Type
Leading Commercial Flat Roof Systems
We are certified to install the industry's top-performing materials. The right choice depends on your building's use, budget, and long-term goals.
🏷️ TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin)
The leading choice for modern commercial buildings in Iowa. TPO's highly reflective white surface drastically reduces summer cooling costs, while its heat-welded seams create a strong, monolithic membrane that is incredibly resistant to leaks.
🏷️ EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer)
Known for its exceptional durability and proven lifespan, EPDM rubber roofing is a workhorse solution. It offers superior resistance to hail, UV rays, and extreme temperatures, making it a reliable and cost-effective choice.
🏷️ Modified Bitumen
A multi-ply, asphalt-based system renowned for its toughness and tear resistance. Modified Bitumen is an excellent choice for roofs with high foot traffic or a large number of rooftop units and penetrations.

FAQ's
Frequently Asked
Questions
Here you’ll find a compilation of the most frequently asked questions. If there’s something you want to know which isn’t here, please send an email to office@iowaroofpros.com.
What is a "cool roof" and why is it important?
A "cool roof" is one with a highly reflective surface (usually white) that reflects solar radiation and heat away from the building. This keeps the building cooler, significantly reducing the load on your HVAC system and lowering your energy bills during the summer. TPO is the most popular cool roof system.
How can we prevent ponding water on our flat roof?
Proper drainage is critical. This is achieved by designing the roof with a slight slope (at least ¼ inch per foot) and installing properly sized drains, scuppers, and gutters. We can often add tapered insulation during a replacement to improve the slope of an existing roof deck.
What is the difference between TPO and EPDM roofing?
The simplest difference is in their composition and seam technology. TPO is a plastic-based membrane with heat-welded seams for a monolithic bond. EPDM is a rubber-based membrane with glued or taped seams. TPO is naturally more puncture-resistant and reflective.
